The English text is the Psalter of the American 1928 Book of Common Prayer, in the Coverdale tradition, from Charles Wohlers’s transcription hosted by the Society of Archbishop Justus. The underlying 1928 text is public domain. Historical variant readings in the transcription’s sidebars are not included.
The printed thirty-day distribution governs Morning and Evening Prayer. Psalm 119 retains its twenty-two sections and their appointed offices. Day 31 repeats day 30; February ends on its actual last day, and each month starts again at day 1. These month-end conventions follow traditional practice; the American 1928 rubric does not explicitly reproduce the English Prayer Book’s detailed month-end instructions. This reader follows the monthly cycle without substituting the Proper Psalms appointed for particular occasions.
Prayer Book verse numbering, spelling, and punctuation are retained. Unnumbered opening verses are supplied with their sequential numbers, and spacing is adapted for the screen. The source’s missing asterisks at Psalms 18:28 and 119:1 and its tilde at Psalm 109:21 are retained. This is a sourced electronic reading text, not a newly collated critical edition.
